Terroirs

The granite of
Château-Thébaud

The southern section of the Armorican massif on sandy-silty soils. Ortho-Gneiss metamorphic rock with an alteration of the granite at the surface of the rock which ensures good vine rooting, rich in quartz, feldspar and black micas known as granodiorite. A virtually unique terroir in the Nantes vineyard region, ensuring regular and homogeneous ripening of the grapes, guaranteeing freshness and refined aromas.

The granite of Clisson

The southern section of the Armorican massif, on predominantly sandy soils. A granitic rock with two white and black micas, covered with gravels and clays combined with quartz and polished, smoothed sandstone. The high drainage quality of these soils ensures deep vine rooting which is conducive to very high grape maturity – ideal for rich, mineral and powerful wines.

The flint of the
Sillon de Bretagne

The northern limit of the Sillon de Bretagne hills, on mainly black sandy loam soils from a zone of mylonite sheared by a quartz vein. A subsoil of flint slabs with fragmenting granitic siliceous rock. A very rare terroir in the Nantes vineyard region, combining the minerality and aromatic power of these wines.
